Who Is behind Udaipur Daily?

Hello There!

I’m Himanshu Nandwana. A Hotelier, freelance food writer and occasional photographer living in the city of lakes “Udaipur”. Before writing this I googled everything about “how to write an interesting “about-me” page and now when I’m actually penning me down I got no clue.

Well one thing I want to tell you “ Yeh firangi hote to gyani hai”

I guess you must have heard everything about Udaipur so I won’t waste your time telling you about my city.

Udaipur Daily is just a blog in this phase but after diwali I’m planning to commercialize it. A print addition for the lovely youth of Lake City.

I’m a professional chef graduated from Ahmedabad. I love to wear white.

“Koyala dhota tha godi main. Bachpan kali rato main aur jawani kale kaamo main beeti….”

“If my mamma would read this she would certainly scream on me”. hehe!!!

I’m not filmy at all. It is just like that that I like white color very much. Last time when I counted I had more than 50 white t-shirt.

For my family specially for my elder brother my this liking is very good. He lives in UK so every year when he comes; he no needs to bother about what would I like? or what I wouldn’t.

So This is me. Hey yea!!! My nick name is mickey.  You people can  also call me mickey.

Thank You!!!

Logo ka kaam hai kehna !!!

I remember the date well 20th june 2007. I was about to take one of the biggest decisions of my life. I had to take a decision! It was getting late!! I was done with my senior secondary but scored awful and got just 59.69%. There were too many ways open to me. I could have done C.A. (well in reality I couldn’t have), I could join any other course though hearing my heart’s voice I chose a totally different way.

My Nani told me this story and to be honest that was the last time when I thought “what would people think?”

Journey begins with a grandpa, his grandson and their donkey! They were travelling to a distant village and had to pass by many other villages before reaching their final destination .And they started , grandpa , grandson sitting on their donkey. They reach the first village, and as soon as they enter they find a few people telling "Look at them! How insensitive?! They are healthy enough to walk and are yet torturing the poor, weak donkey. ”They immediately get down and start walking alongside the donkey, continuing their journey. They reach the next village and again they hear people talking about them! "Hahah..look at those fools ! They have a donkey and are yet walking by its side! How dumb!!" Listening to that, they decide that only one of them will sit at donkeys back. That way they could use the donkey for traveling and donkey too won't be burdened .The grandson lets his grandpa to sit on the donkey . They further travel and reach the next village. They once again hear people commenting on them "Look at how cruel the grandpa is !! He is making that poor boy walk in the scorching heat of the sun and is nicely enjoying the ride all by himself!!" Feeling as if he had committed the biggest crime, grandpa got down in a split second and let grandson sit on the donkey and they continue. Next stop. "Look what an excruciator that little boy is! Being young he can walk miles but he is making his old grandfather do that. kalyug.kalyug ! "

So it's pretty clear, eh? People will always talk, no matter what you do.... they will always find some or the other flaw to gossip!! So do we really care about them? So much so that we sometimes sacrifice our dreams, sacrifice being what we are, and sacrifice taking decisions that would change our life for the better?

Or sometimes just brood over some bullshit rumors that we hear about ourselves? Are these people and their talks this important? Morons - that is what I love to call them, draw conclusions without prior knowledge and spread it like wild fire. So next time you have something up in your mind , before considering what people would think , why not first consider if you like it or if your virtues / conscience allows you to do so ..... Because if the "latter ones in place and you own their wife and kids" (social network) ;)

                                                      And as they say:
                                  "Great minds discuss ideas ,
                                              average minds discuss events,
                                              small minds discuss people!"

    Say that 'You love them'

I read this really touching story from one of the books long back… which holds a real important truth we neglect or don’t pay heed to…before getting to that point I would like to share a story.

It was about a guy in high school , he loved his school , friends and most importantly his PARENTS . One night he was just thanking god for making his life so near to perfect . He could see his dad from the open door , sitting and working on his laptop for some important presentation he had the next day , and all of a sudden this boy felt sooo much of love and respect for his dad that he wanted to go there , hug him and tell him i love you dad ! and then he  hushed the feelings away just as soon, as they had come thinking c'mon a guy isn't supposed to tell such stuff to another guy...it's not a guy-thing ! The next day he went to his school , had fun like he normally has , teased his friends like he normally does , and left from the school as he normally does , little did he know that it wasn't going to be a normal day ! On coming back home he found way too many people in the backyard , he was confused ... "was it mom's birthday today ? nahh...may be their anniversary ? What’s so special about today?" he went straight inside to find out and had to face the hardest moment of his life.... his dad was lying there , right in front of him , lifeless , with bruises , he couldn't come to terms with the reality . His dad had met with an accident on his way back home, leaving him spot dead .Tears filled his eyes and emptiness his heart . He hugged his dad , said him i love you , but it was too late . He felt bad for not letting his dad know how much he loved him and respected him last night , even though he would always fight with him for petty issues like pocket money or for permission for a Saturday pyjama party in order to escape spending time with the family. He thought it was boring and uncool to sit and spend time with parents , not anymore , now he regretted everything he had ever said , every time he bunked to avoid spending time with his dad . But nothing could be changed . It was too late .

                                                 I hope you guys must have by now guessed what i was trying to convey . Just like this boy , most of us take our families for granted , we love them but we never express , we think we are gonna live forever ! We think THEY are gonna live forever . But life has it's own plans . So why not love them , express our feelings to them when we are all together instead of regretting later ! And not only that but then living life , doing everything we love NOW ! Not procrastinating things for next summer or next Christmas ... who know if you would still breath ? And most importantly you live only once , so live it king size , make most of every second , live in the now ,  Because we never know if tomorrow comes.There's nothing as mysterious and as unpredictable as life is and like they say ;
                                          "Take chances,tell the truth ,
spend the money on the things you love,
                                      get to know somebody random,
say i love you to someone in life,
                                               feel the true love,
tell the idiot how he/she hurts you,
                                      abuse someone who deserves it,
sit alone, watch the rain and cry,
                                      laugh till your stomach pains,
dance even if you are bad at it,
                                      pose stupidly for photos,
give someone a hug when they need it and
make sure to get one when you do,
                                      be naughty like a child
                                               live it !
                                              love it!

because -- "You only live once ,
but if you do it right ,

                                                    once is enough ;) !  " - Mae west
